We are a mother-daughter team from Launceston, Tasmania.
My handmade miniatures first appeared in my childhood dollhouse. This dollhouse became more than a toy. It presented me with a challenge to see what I could make, especially as so few miniatures were available locally. My first attempts were by no means exquisite but I was convinced I could do better. Consequently I remade the various items and then made them again.
Mum’s interest began when I made an extremely tiny bride and groom - quite homeless without a wedding cake on which to stand. With a background in cake decorating she set about to remedy this. After making a few other items she was well and truly hooked.
Our skills combine well as I have a preference for polymer clay ( warm hands) and sewing, while Mum is more at home with knitting, crocheting and painting.
Again, because few quality commercially-made miniatures were available locally, we sought to share our creations and so began swapping and trading them and never ceased to be delighted by the reactions of others on seeing the treasures we had lovingly created.
